Autumn & Spring School: Pathways towards a more sustainable agriculture

Agriculture is facing many challenges: Cost pressure, changing social expectations, animal welfare requirements, digitalization, the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. The pressure to change is increasing and many farmers are unsure which path they want to take.

What are the paths to sustainable agriculture? How can transformation be shaped? And what contribution can future-oriented education make to this?

Together with young people in agricultural training (from apprentices to students and recent graduates) and related fields (environmental/nature/landscape conservation), we address these issues. Teachers, trainers and lecturers can also take part.

Four rounds have taken place so far. The Autumn & Spring School will enter its fifth round in fall 2025.

Whether organic or conventional, with or without your own farm: the decisive factor is an interest in sustainable agriculture and a desire for change!

The program offers a diverse mix of professional impulses, workshops and “outdoor time”. We will also gain insights into the personal experiences of farmers with change processes and have space for exchange and reflection on our own change projects and levers.

The seminars are held in German. For more information on the programme and how to apply, please visit the German webpage of the Autumn & Spring School.

The Autumn & Spring School is a result of the Think and Do Tanks on Future-Oriented Land Use that took place in March and July 2020 in Siggen. A steering group was formed from among the participants to support the foundation in planning the Spring & Autumn School.
